As I was strolling the streets of Bombay (Mumbai), India, I noticed that the taxicabs are the same make of car, yet the owners of the cabs have personalized them with stickers and other do-dads to make them unique.
It got me thinking of other things that are commonly personalized such as MacBook Pro computers like mine. Anyway, I made this very short video to show you what I mean. It is less than a minute.

Interesting observation. Maybe it's that "Sure, I'm one of the in crowd. But ... I'm also daring enough to be me." thing?

Interesting. I never thought about putting a sticker and personalize my Macbook Pro. I'm not sure why I would do that, other than making it easy to spot among the other MacBook Pro's :)
I understand why the taxis of Mumbai have stickers, because they really need to stand out from the crowd in order to find them.

Love this. Another thought: maybe we personalise our products and services by providing them in a unique way. This, in addition to providing some in a way which can later be personalised by customers.
[Love the street noise in this clip - for a moment I was there in Mumbai. *sigh* Back to work ...:)]

Ha! The recognition. It reminds me of putting ribbons or something that stands out on luggage so that you can easily find it on the carousel. "That one's mine!" Interesting what we customize.

Left Mumbai today. I'm so glad that I made this video - I will watch it frequently to remember.

Thought provoking post. I guess everyone wants to be an individual; and customising a car (or laptop etc)is a way of stamping their unique personality onto an object. A car or laptop are objects that can almost become an extension of a person, so perhaps customising them, is a way of giving them some of the character of their owner.

I never thought about applying adhesive and customize my MacBook Pro. I am not sure what I will do it and the other which makes it easy to spot.

I have to admit, that video was pretty hilarious! But you made a valid point. I guess the subtle additions to the taxis make them identifiable if they are ever stolen
